Well, I was recently forced to watch the original "Grease" movie on a date recently, and during the song "Grease Lightning" I noticed that when they are assembling the car during that song, they put on a clear plastic hood. It looks really neat and I was wondering if there was a manufacturer of them and any other details. Neat part.

They made them for dealerships in the olden days.

More importantly, did watching grease get you laid?

Cause then you dont even need the hood.

I also had to watch it the other day and I thought the exact same thing about the clear hood.

  6. I met a dude at a show a while back who had a a curved windshield that had been shortened. I asked how they cut the glass and he showed me it was plexiglass and it had been heated in a pizza oven. I wonder if you put a big enough sheet of plexiglass in a big enough oven then draped it over a good hood to let it cool would it work? Might have to make a mold like for a 'glass bumper. Can this stuff be polished?

  7. There's a model A in the newest issue of The Rodders Journal at the salt flats. Looks pretty cool....I bet it'd cost a fortune to have one made

I'd assume it would be the same way Atomic Punk or any or the other bubble top cars are built, just make a wooden buck of the hood and heat the plexi down over it. Something like this but on a larger scale. (Pizza Oven)

WOW I have to say what we do with the style cars were into is always a lot of work to build things right but I have a lot of appreciation for the guys that build those lowrider customs for the amount of effort and time that goes into those cars. My first viewing of Grease was in the rumble seat of a roadster as a kid at the drive in when it first came out.

The same hotel that hosts the road rocket rumble is a popular spot when the tuner show comes to raceway park. I cruised thru just for kicks and musta seen 10 clear hoods! How's it feel to be a ricer? :)

this reminds me of that question in Tarentino's movie.
"Are you an Elvis guy or a Beatles guy?"

"Are you an American Graffitii guy or a Grease guy ?"

Interesting. My first non-Rated G movie was Grease. My babysitter wanted to see it and snuck us in. We were supposed to see some Disney flick. I wore out my parents 8 track soundtrack by the time I was 12. I didn't see AG until much later and only once. I guess I'd best go shopping for it and watch it with my boys. I'd hate for them to end up as ricers...

  25. Barris built it!

  26. Plexi can be molded to a form when heated. You'd just have to make a form for it.

You'd need a monster vac former if you want it smooth and even. I'm sure they spent big bux on them.

Grease is the reason I run around may cars with a roll of platic wrap whenever I'm wrenching on it.
