It looks awesome, but where could I find some
Not sure where you can find it anymore, but remember that they leak voltage like crazy and can really screw up electronic ignitions, cause misfires and create radio noise.
Just something to think about
you can get it there.
I used that stuff (transparent red insulation with a tinned
multi-stranned copper conducter) back in the late-60's-early-70.
The stuff had negliable electrical resistance, but the electrical
insulation properies of the clear covering sucked. It would break
down and start leaking from engine heat after a few thousand
miles and even when it was still new, if you opened the hood
on a humid or damp night and revved the engine, you could see
an electrical carona 'light show' surrounding the engine!. The
'carona" - actually caused by escaping eltromagetic waves
ionizing water molecules in the surrounding air, could and would
induce an electrical current in the ajoining wires, causing missfires
(not to mention possible detonation too!) at high rpm. If you want
it just for 'looks' on a mild and mostly 'show engine' it's probably
ok, but on any sort of serious or high-hp engine, forget about it.
Speaking of "clear" ignition stuff too ....wondering....does anyone
remember 'clear' distributor caps? Tried one of those for awile 'back
in the day' too!! Cool looking, but like the clear plug wires, junk
for any kind of actual high-performance use.
so from what people are saying, it sounds like a bad idea to get some
pretty sure summit still sells the clear caps
