I degreased my tranny today, and now the case is chalky looking in some areas. How can I get it the same finish all over? What will the acid aluminum wheel cleaner do to it?will it hurt the seals? Toqwik....Permanant junior member....

Chalky looking because you stripped all the Oil off it and exposed the Aluminum Oxide underneath. Spray it down with WD then wipe off the excess.

I assume your doing the outside of the trans, right?
If so, I spray some carb cleaner over it to get a uniform looking finish.

Will these last, or in time will the chalkyness reappear???

  5. i've used the mag wheel cleaner and some steel wool with good results.just mask off the seals with duct tape to keep the stuff off them...and use rubber gloves and eye protection
