Just a few photos from Saturday night at Bakersfield. With 80 or so cars in the cacklefest it was impossible to get pix of them all.

The HAMB's own Beep had the Grizzlehopper there with his daughter in the seat.

The Yeakel Plymouth car that was driven by Tom McEwen early in his career.

    Rocky Childs' Addict.

CHRR honoree Walt Stevens in the Poachers car along with the big block Chevy powered car that won the cackle "sound off" contest.

The Daley and Johnson car, one of Bucky Austin's fleet of cackle cars.

Australia's own Scorcher (the first Aussie car to run 200 mph down under) with co-owner Dennis Young in the blue shirt. They placed 6th in the cackle contest and also had one of the best flame shows.

The Petersen and Fitz car, another one out of Bucky's magnificent collection.

Absolutely the best built dragster ever. Tom Hanna's magnificent piece of art is beyond good.

  2. Great pics Roo. Good to see you were able to tear yourself away from Indy for the show.

A few of the cars made test laps on Saturday afternoon prior to the actual cacklefest.

The legendary TV Tommy Ivo was out in Ron Johnson's Barnstormer re-pop.

Another of Bucky's fleet, the Fireside Inn roadster that was formerly campaigned by Larry Dixon Sr. Seventy year old Dixon was racing his blown bock block altered with the NPCA at Bowling Green this weekend and thus not available to cackle the car.

John Ewald and his brother Don in the Master Car and Bank Americar entries. Don created the We Did It For Love website, a repository of vintage dragster photos which is probably the only place on the web with more vintage drag race photos than the HAMB's drag cars in motion thread.

A clearer shot of Don Ewald with another Dixon ride, the Howard Cam Rattler in the background.

Leon Fitzgerald's Pure Heaven fuel altered

Sorry, no ID on this little short wheelbase digger

  4. Wow. what a trip. 3,868.9 miles in all, but every inch was worth it. Gretchen "the driver" and the whole GizzleHopper gang had a blast. CHHR is the best when it comes to the older fuelers. 105 cars in all. 20 in the blower start line and 85 push start cars. Cool.................

We got back home at 2:00 a.m. this morning (Wednesday) and I had to go to work. Sheeessssh I'm tired.
