I was planning on doing just that but decided the '40 wheels were easier to go with.. Would love to see pictures of them too.

its hard to chrome wide 5 wheels between being hard to polish, the center hub design creates an issue with the current flow around the scallop cut out and the wheel rim and the chrome doesnt take well in that area.

Like with any other steel wheel you polish and plate the rim and the center separately and reassemble. With the early riveted wheels you can bolt them together & run tubes.

Same truck comes to mind immediately. Try Dave Diaz (SP?) or see Andy Southard's Hot Rods of the '50s.

Someone HAS to have done a set in between 1936 and now.

    That's it. I'm going on a search..

I have a friend who has a set, but I don't have any pictures of them. He says that they are aftermarket wheels that were available chrome.

Here you go.... chrome centers and painted rings I think.... Maybe just chrome or stainless covers, not sure.

    Cool either way...

Pretty sure those are caps that cover the spokes. Still looks cool though.

    Then these..

But those are probably the caps that slip on over the legs of the centers. Cool nonetheless.

Jeem does have what appears to be chromed wide five .. VW wheels.

Great to see this shot of Terry Seaholm and his beautiful roadster. He was a true Hot Rodder and a fine Gentleman.

  15. Gotta picture of the caps alone? Are you saying they're not wide five wheels underneath?

  16. Does anyone reproduce the spoke covers?

They show-up on the 'bay every now and then...pricey! DD

  21. I'll bet they're not as pricey as separating a set of wheels, chroming them, then reassembling them. :D
