Anybody have an idea where I can get a chrome sheetmetal cover for a GM generator? The Survivor had one, but it went to shit through the last 50 years . If I can't find one, I'll have to make one...

    Thanks,
    Mark

I think it would be easy enough to cut one out of stainless steel yourself. I know they make them for flathead generators but I've never seen them for GM ones.

I saw Von Franco with a case of covers at a mooneye's garage sale a couple years back.
    Maybe he's still got some.

I haven't seen a "stepped" 57 Chevy era chromed generator cover in years and I've been looking. The ones that I remember and covet were stamped steel so that both diameters and the step were covered in one piece. Cal Custom?? They were not just a flat wrapper like the reproduced flathead cover. I do remember someone selling a cover made up of 2 flat wrapper pieces for the 2 dias. but that looked stupid to my eye with the step not covered.

It probably cost more to tool up for a repro than the projected sales could ever return. (generators are unreliable. Remember?:D) The last one I saw on Ebay went for more money than I wanted to spend and that was a few years ago.

The previous owner builder had this Delco case chromed.

I just got one from a guy on Ebay not a week ago. $22.00. Fits the GM short generators. Look under 55 Pontiac parts.
