Yes, only if you wear large ornate rings on most of your fingers. If not, no.

If it were me I would run some nice wide whites, keep the hub caps. Lower it and either re paint it a light blue with a micro flake light blue roof, white interior and re do the steering wheel in micro flake.

Yes, but make sure the links are welded real good. I had one on a jet dragster, and a weld let go at 260 mph and it pinched the little finger on my right hand. The worst part, was that for a couple weeks I couldn't sign any autographs.

A chain wheel is a good way to get hurt, catch a finger and rip it off ouch! Also never use any wheel that is not completly round , cars need round wheels airplains are different.

Well thanks for all of the replies. I guess the chain wheel is out....I'm glad you all feel that way, it gives me reason to believe the HAMB is still in good hands.
One idea was a Grant wood wheel which I had thought about. I always thought they worked well for sport cars, GTs and such, just not sure about the T-Bird for the direction I'm going. The stock wheel is ok. I did repaint it a few years ago. I'll rethink it's possibilities. I may just go with the metalflake wheel. Never had one but always liked metalflake, great 60s look.

    I say Yes. seriously.

I run the original on my 64 Tbird,
but I have a sense of humor and
    don't have a problem with a chain
    wheel.

I've used Grant 3 spoke wheels on some of my cars because of my T.B. (2 bellies) I have em on my 2 currents. But NEVER a chain one!!! I have a teak on my Galaxie, and a black vinyl one on my Ranchero. My stock ones are hanging on my wall waiting for thinner days ahead!

  23. wasn't there a story about why they made chain steering wheels? something about breaking out of jail or something like that or is that urban legend?

Not the HAMB Police Mantra

Pre-65, but as with any rule you'll still need to engage your brain occasionally and also press the common sense button... 4th generation T-birds were 1964-1966.

So that 1964 is ok, but the 1965 and 1966, which are the same as the 1964, aren't "HAMB Friendly".

I kinda like the thin wood grain wheels typical of what could have come in the car in the 1st place... smooooth

but really it depends on what the rest of your interiour looks like...

BTW... looked at a 64 / 65 Bird when I was a lot younger... had a neat option... the swing out steering wheel / column... to make it easier to get into & out of the car... I always thought that was cool... almost bought the car for that feature... but I never could fully swallow the "square birds" always prefered the O.T. 67-69 Birds with their rounded features... in fact if I didn't have my Studie apart right now, I know where there is a pretty solid 67 I'd have to deal on...
