Damn, I love those chopped Tudor sedans!!! My personal opinion on a coupe is that 3-4" is just right. I guess it depends on the feel you want the car to have.

    on a 30-31 I like 3-4" chops

    on a 28-29 4" is best (I think) I plan on doing mine 4"

Anything more always looks a little wonky too me, but thats all up to how mich effort the builder puts into making it look natural...lots of guys whack their coupes 6" and the quarter windows look mangled...On the other hand, the 'Green Grenade' nailed the heavy chop.

This is somewhere around 6" , not sure. Car has been chopped 2 times before, not by me.

Nah ... it just says safe and well built. And if coilovers, and disc brakes, aren't hamb friendly. Then I better rethink my car. But you didn't say non traditional. I still like it...ghost

Thanks chaddilac, I figured I would get flamed with having the wind-wings but they do work.

:D However much you like it!!!

Mikey likes 3-4" for everyday use.

6-7" for shockvalue but its not really daily use friendly, unless you're short or hell bent on it.

I chopped my 30 coupe 4". It seems just right to me...I'm short (5'6"), and it can be a little tough to see traffic lights overhead.........I can imagine if you were very tall or took out more than 4" you might be kickin' yourself. A big chop sure looks good sittin' still, though.

For what it's worth, 28-29's look like they're about 1" taller than 30-31's in stock form, so for anybody contemplating whacking a 28-29, I's say take an extra inch out of it.

Love this thread... it's a little hobby of mine to collect pics of different height chopped coupes.

Tindall, by the way, I love your coupe. Big inspiration!

When you scroll over the pic the amount of chop shows up.

It's crazy how stance can change the look of a car as much as a chop.

I see CTBrent posted a pic of my coupe above. Thought I'd post a more recent pic. 4.5" chop...

Nice Job. Kerry told me that he had sliced this the other day and to look out for pictures. He also filled me in on some of the history of the car as well. Very cool indeed. Can't wait to see it finished, but not as much as you I'm reckoning!

    61cad,

That car sits about just right! Your car is just about what I picture when I think of a traditional chopped and channeled Coupe. Nice job

Nice! How the hell do you make the chop size come up? You must spend way to much time on the computer...Ha!

You've heard of a tall-T right? why not do a reverse chop on your coupe and have a Tall-A instead.

Run tape across the windshield before ya chop it ,sit in the drivers seat and take a look out to see how much visibility you have.Think about those pesky red lights you will have to sit at bending down to see. Now get off this computer and CHOP that sucker.

I just save the pic as the amount of chop. Whatever you save it as will come up. And yes, I do spend too much time on the computer. I need a SHOP!!! After I get married, I'm promised one.

Here's 4" ready to come off.
    4" chopped a .jpg

All my pics are harvested from somewhere else. I'm not claiming to have taken any of these photos. I'm just planning my own chop.

Great thread. I just sliced a 30-31 coupe this week. I was planning a radical chop in the 5-6 inch range. It's at 4 inches in the picture and it's starting to grow on me. Decisions!
I've also included a pic of my current ride. It's chopped 3 inches.
    Keep 'em coming.

I've been doin a little research on this, (call it procrastinating or whatever) but how I see it the chop needs to be porportionate to the height of the car. Highboy style less chop but full drop needs severe chop. lower it a little chop a little , real low, real chop , Ya know? My 2 cents, Later
