    CHOPPED ROD & CUSTOM 2011

Australia’s only Traditional Hot Rod, Dirt Drag & Kustom Kulture Music Festival.

    September 30th, October 1st & 2nd, 2011

Hot Rods and rock music get back to their roots for the annual ‘Chopped Rod & Custom’ a three-day festival where pre-1965 style custom cars and music fanatics from across Australia roll into Victoria. Taking place an hour and a half north of Melbourne, Chopped is a unique cultural experience similar to that of being thrown back to a 1950s/60s Hop Up Carnavale.

Thousands of fans from around the country partake in a mix of traditional style hot rods & custom cars alongside bobber & chopper motorcycles with entrants running head-to-head throughout the show in two-lane old-style dirt drags entertaining the crowds.

Throughout the day and into the night the crowds constantly switch their attention between the field of dirt drags and cars across to the stage where 15 bands play Rockabilly, Garage & Rock through to Blues, Country & Surf in the setting of the ‘Tiki Palace’ bar that drops you back into 1960s island life with Cocktails, Tikis, & Period DJ’s visually drowned by palms, bamboo and a giant Easter Island Head that lights up the sky at night by popping its top and flaming into the darkness.

Camping for the first time this year. Just have to bleed the brakes and have a little test run down the road and the 46 is set to make its debut show. To say i'm excited would be a massive understatement!

    ...saw ya ride, looked great...

I didn't get my tiny tank there....I thrashed, but not hard enough....or well not dry enough.

The rain came down in a big way when I had about 2hrs of daylight left Saturday, that was it. I couldn't put it on the truck because the drag link wasn't in, the drag link wasn't in because, the body hadn't at that point hadn't been secured, because I'd only just got the radius rods done.....you get the drift. Yesterday the sun came out....and here is where it stood....

I went to the show anyway, just for an hour....

Thanks Willo, Kyle and Ryan.......... On the way home I saw this ol' clunker outside the gate....................

Had to work Friday and Saturday, but me and my mate's A Coupes made the trip on Sunday morning. The Sun was out, the car ran great, and had a laugh on the way. Great venue, it was like stepping back in time, before rules and regulations and political correctness ruined eveerything. Will definitely be camping there next year.
This is one event that shouldn't be missed.
