Chrome and NOS porn! Just doesn't get much better!

Wonderful that that great old sealed box quietly waited all these years to give up its contents for this beautiful car.

    Thanks guys.
I'm really going to be hustling on this car here in the next few months. My plans are to drive it to the Rodders Journal revival!
The car is registered for the show.... Now I just need to get it done.

I am having a tough time trying to decide how the car is going to be finished for the show.

    Bare metal or paint?

Ahh..that's what I call "Fuck you" chrome. Just because you can. I'm jealous of the water pump.

    Looking good!

    Hahahahaha "fuck you chrome"!
You're well familiar with the chrome prices I deal with.... It's hard to buy paint for what our chromer charges:)

I modified the hell out of that water pump and made my own cross over tubes out of the heads that house tiny little Honda thermostats.
I'm running the stock Merc/flathead radiator with the two upper hoses.
Trying to clean up the front of the engine!
Here's a crappy small picture of the housings and the water pump.

I also made up a nice little oil filler to get rid of the oil filler/fuel pump stand on the front of the engine... It's the simple things that make me happy:)

I just got this back from chrome..But forgot to snap a recent pic

thank you for letting us follow along on this unbelievable merc build. This car is just soo right. Not too many people sweat the little details on full bodied cars like this, figuring you cant see it.

    Crazy 'bout a Mercury---------------

  16. Looks like you're stayin' right on track man, COOL!!

  17. I have a friend who´s running volvo thermostats in the tubes on his flathead and it works just fine. I think it would be a cool thing keeping the stock radiator and both inlets, giving it more of an original look.Did you get any trubbel cutting the tubes of off the pump?......Kenneth.

I didn't run into any trouble with the water pump at all. Just welded up the hole in the top where it connected to the crossover. You could also tap it for a pipe plug and do a nice stainless plug

Well in between a family vacation, a two week thrash on a salt flat car and work.
Ive managed to find a few minutes to start on my window trim. The Window trim Started as 1/4x1/2 brass bar stock. After hours of grinding and filing I ended up with the shape that was fairly close to the factory trim
    [IMG]

Then I made a paper pattern of the quarter window and transferred a line onto my fab table so I could start the heating and bending

After all that heating and bending
I did a few final tweaks to the trim and made my fine cut to remove the excess.
The trim will be bolted on the window lip with counter sunk flathead bolts.

Tons of work but well worth it
