Well, she's buttoned back up enough for Billetproof! Thanks to my friend Mike, she's rolling on some sweet tires/wheels for the show!

    I'm digging this!

Well, I knew kinda once I put those wheels and tires on that they weren't going to be coming off any time soon..... Struck a deal and the borrowed shoes are now on to STAY! It's funny, I wasn't even thinking about whitewalls. But once they were on the car I figured out that there was no way around it. Whitewalls it shall be!

    Thanks Mike!

    Thanks guys.

Next up is to finish the chop, match up the paint and spray the chopped areas so it looks uniform, and drive it. Winter time may be when we tear it apart and possibly change out the banger for a (gasp) early 283/4 speed.

This car is going to turn out nothing like I thought it was in the end... but the more I drive it, the more I want to change it. A reliable 283 and more modern trans will make this thing much more driveable-which is what I really want to do with it.

Who knows, I change my mind every 5 minutes. We'll see what happens.

Well, no real work being done right now-just been driving it a lot. Thought I'd post some pics of that... Here's a few pics from various events and club functions I've been taking it to. My newport is getting lonely-it's only been to a couple shows this year :(

  17. Very nice cut and the wheels and tires are spot on. The fits looks so good has an old body man I'd like to stop by and metal work that.....after lunch.

So, no real progress to report right this moment but the coupe is going out to a fellow club member's shop this weekend and we will be finishing up the chop. Then I have to decide what to do about the paint. I may just spot it in, but I also may repaint the entire top half of the car, or even the entire car all together. In any case, it will remain two tone green with the black break.

Another interesting turn of events-yesterday I was trailering it to a photoshoot for a friend and the wind caught my visor and flipped it backwards, which tore the top in the process. It ripped about 3 inches, one rip on each side. SO the insert has to be replaced.

At first I was bummed, but then I got to thinking... what about a WHITE top insert instead of black? Now I'm pretty pumped about it and am sourcing some whimbleton white material, and the car will be sporting a fancy white top soon. Stoked.

I'll post updated pics soon. It should look pretty good with those things all buttoned up.

I'm not saying this to be a smarta$$, but I didn't even know they even still made PBR. Last time I drank that stuff was in the 70's...

Ha. Yeah they still make pbr.... It's still gross.

Anyway, does anyone have any pics of chopped coupes with white roof inserts?

What tire sizes are you running and have you done anything to lower the suspension, other than the different front axle.

We are marking a 4" line on the 30 coupe I plucked off CL in Portland a couple months ago, and I am getting a T spring for the rear and a drop axle for the front, just wondering if that will be enough up front?

Also interested in your complete suspension/wheel setup man.
Im in the middle of my banger 31 build and started the front end teardown tonight. Also interested to see how your stock seat looks sitting on the floor.
Debating on my chop, but want to get the stance down perfect first!

Dang it I am a moron. I looked at this (and spoke to you) at billetproof and had no idea it was you.

The tires are 6.0 in the front and 7.50 in the rear. 16's.

The only things done to the suspension are the later axle and two leaves pulled from the spring pack.
