I sent some guys there last year, and they came back empty handed.....they said it was a complete waste of time, and they got screwed over by the hotel. The hotel sold 2 of their rooms to someone else for more money and they already had reservations. I'm not too excited to ever go there...... Prove me wrong!!! Post some pics of your treasure finds from this years meet.
THe spring meet is always terrible but the fall is usally packed. Sadly, enough I can't make it due to a medical condition. I was hoping for pictures too.
after being there for 30 years i have had enough of the money driven guys who run that club now, as you know they own the land it is on and have killed it by moving it to that area . and its become mostly sadly late model throw away crap left over body shop shit itc..
It's gone downhill since it was moved. Although, the first Spring meet in the new location, I (we) sold a lot of stuff, but I think it was because not much was there and people brought money to spend and just had to spend it. I'm still going down to check it out and see what's not there. Maybe the weather will help it some unless it's still wet from all the rain this year.
I picked up a `40 ford dash, front trans cover for the floor pan, and a pair of 5 spoke wheels. oh! and a GI 50 cal ammo can for a tool box. I also sold the `48 ford coupe..not a complete car ... just a body and frame. compared to the spring meet, I`d say it was a very big improvement! Tom T.
There must be TWO different meets right? The Pre War meet gets lots of attention from the Antique guys I know. What is the date on the PreWar Swap?
I was set up down there, Had a few good sales (a 32 and 34 truck cabc) and bought a an intake for my GMC 302. There didnt seem to be near the crowd that the spring meet gets.
The Pre-War meet is held at the Fairgrounds where the original meet was held until last year. It is sponsored by a different guy than the Spring Chickasha Meet held at the clob property to the east of the fairgrounds. The Pre-War meet at the fairgrounds is held several weeks after the Spring Meet. It is not put on by the club that does the SPring and Fall meets.
I went for a couple of hours friday. Found a tail light lens for the old 37 lincoln for three bucks, I'm still grinnin'. The guy said "now that you bought it tell me what it fits" Also bought a pair of headlight buckets for my ranch wagon for 10 bucks each. It was worth the trip for me.
I hear that. You could say the same thing about Chickasha. The muscle car swap meet pulls in sellers that would be at Chickasha, and then there is the evil EBAY and Barrett-Jacksons prices that screw the modern swap meet over.
