Thought I had a '51 Chevy truck straight axle. Bought a disc brake kit for a '49 - '57. Problems arose when I tried to put the adapter on the spindle to accept the rotor. The adapter has an i.d. of 1 .250", and my spindle is 1 .125". Do I have an earlier axle than what I believe, or what? Any help is appreciated. (is it possible to put a bushing on the spindle? The outer bearing fits.)

get the kit for the axle you have, maybe?

It sounds like it's an earlier axle. Pictures help, of course.

Perhaps the supplier supplied the wrong adapters?

No I think he is correct in that he has earlier spindles. I am dealing with that right now on my roadster project. One of my friends gave me and axle out of a Chevy pickup and everything is right except that the spindles are smaller on the inner bearing area.
Luckily for me the spindles on a junk dropped axle I have are correct and I'll use them.
