Somebody must know-I dont remember seeing a chevrolet station wagon older than a 49 , I've seen some sedan deliveries but never remember a wagon.Somebody here has to know-pass on some info.
Most manufacturers had "station wagons" in the early '40's and most were called woodies...Chevrolet built 'em too... R-
I should know this but just remember they were made probably as long as Fords and other wood bodied " depot hack" station wagons. Almost bought a 1949 Chevy woody once.
Here are a couple. The '41 was a rare car and will sell for good money if it is decent shape. The '47-48 area also a popular collector car. My feeling is the Coach Works which built these bodies also had a part in building for other auto manufacturer's. Normbc9
1939 Chevy wagon. First wagon offered directly from GM. Earlier models were coach built on GM ordered chassis
I believe it was the Beach Boys who sang "I've hot a 34 wagon and we call it the Woody, Surf City here we come", as noted above the "tin wagons" came later
Your half right,,it was Jan & Dean that recorded the song but Brian Wilson did helped co-write the song with Jan Berry.HRP
