    Saw this today for $900 with a mega squirt fuel injection control.

    Also that angle build into the valve cover under the breather is neat. Is that one of 12 bolt toms covers?

    Yes, A friend gave me the tower breather, spent the next 4 hrs building the mount and blending it in, Going to black wrinkle the cover to hide the flaws and highlite the fins

    dreracecar, I know you said your intake runners are old VW webers but what is the box you have them welded to? Something you made as well?

    Yes, started with some 4" x 4" x 1/2" structural alu angle for the top and outside. Machined the top fins with a ball endmill and flycut the thickness on the outside to about 1/4. Used a radius cutter for the corner to match the inside radius. Used another 4" x 4" x 1/4' angle for the back and bottom. Sized the box and welded them together, and again used the radius cutter on the corners.     Also instead of machining a hole for an oil fill, I used the stock fuel pump mount to make the oil fill direct to the pan

    Thank you, It looks great!! I was thinking something like that for one of mine, but making it with a throttle body. I can't weld like that so I may not get that idea off the ground.
    Great work, like the supercharger!! I have a Potvin end cover and may try something like your set up.

    Could someone recommend me a flywheel? I’m assuming a standard, not lightened is what I’m going to want?
    153 with an adapter to early V8 Ford trans with 10” Flathead pressure plate/clutch
    Would be going in a model A IMG_0727.png

    If you are using the 153 starter that mounts to the block I'm pretty sure you you are stuck with a 153 tooth 12.5" flywheel. I don't know if the Flathead clutch & pressure plate will fit on that. If your starter bolts to the adapter like the ones for the early Chevy small blocks you'll have to use a 168 tooth flywheel. The 10" clutch 14" 168 tooth flywheel was hard to find but I found one at Jegs. A lot of clutch plates have the right spline for the Ford trans but the hub may not clear the flywheel bolts. What ever works for a two piece seal Chevy small block will work for a 153.

    That looks like maybe for an Iron Duke. (151)? Maybe 181. Could be adapted for a 153.

    I believe that is an EVM injection unit drilled for a Fontana/Arias Head based on the Chevy II. They used the same castings for both, you can see the undrilled stock Chevy II hole locations. I have EVM injection on my chevy II midget earlier in the thread.

    I believe you are right! Thank you BZNEIL, EVM is casted in it, I just couldn't read it. I did go back and look at your picture. Sure wish I had one of those!

    Would anyone happen to know what the stock oil pressure at idle is supposed to be on a 153 4 cyl?

  27. Not sure what stock is, but on start up mine is 40psi and 15 to 20 hot. I run 5-50wt Castrol edge synthetic oil (was Syntec). Castrol said this was designed for flat tappet older engines. I have been using it for over 20 years on all my older cars.
    Was told by a racer friend that 10psi per thousand RPM is normal.

    thanks! Are you running a stock oil pump or a high volume one?
    Mine running hot is around 20. And 10 around idle. That sounds about what you’ve got going on. I thought it was a little low. But maybe it’s ok.
     
  29. I didn't build the engine, but as far as I know from the builder it has a stock pump. The engine was built a little loose as far as pistons and it has a rattle. I also forgot to shut the fuel off and washed the cylinders down. Does not use oil and runs strong. Has a Rochester 2 jet carb, it runs rich and bogs on right turns. Just got a webber 2 bbl and clifford adapter to change it to.
