I'm building a 1959 Chevy Apache. I know originally the gas tank came behind the seat. I want to put a gas tank under the bed on the back of the frame. I know I can buy an aluminum tank from LMC and bolt it on for $350.

My questions is, has anyone taken a modern car gas tank and put it on their truck frame? If so, what car did you get your tank from?

try 70s-80s blazers and suburbans...they had the tank back there, the frame is the same width.

  6. 67-9 Camaro/Firebird...and 68-72 Nova or clone tanks work well behind the rear axle; mite have to notch the rear bed cross-sill for neck clearance or redo the filler neck.
these tanks are cheap as repo's...
