    Awesome truck man!

  3. Wowzer! 8" of snow in mid April, sorry to hear that. So after the brakes are done will you be ready to hit the roads?

    Plugging along!!

Brake light, tail light and blinker wiring ran to back of truck.

Front end completely greased and cotter keyed.

Brake lines ran. Started the bleeding process and am having a heck of a time with the prop valve tripping. I am just going to order the tool to keep it centered and some speed bleeders to ease the process

Peal and sealed the roof in the cab.
Got a good game plan for building my rear shackle mounts which I hope to work on today after work!!

    Thank you very much!!

My goal for the weekend is to get the rear suspension done and get the box on and the truck on the ground.

Hopefully work does not screw it up!!

I've been watching this one for a while and I love this truck and everything you're doing to it. I can hardly believe the way it turned out based on the first picture you posted. Case in point: hard work pays off. Can't wait to see it done, man.

And the rear suspension is finally finished!!!
Got some time this week to weld up some rear shackle mounts and welded them on Henry yesterday after work. I also welded on some square tubing for my bed mounts.

coach - logistical question here: what factors did you use to design that bracket for the rear shackle? My first glance impression is that the tubing that the shackle mounts to is longer than necessary. If you shortened that tubing you would significantly reduce the shear forces on the piece that is perpendicular to the frame. Is there a clearance issue that we can't see in the picture that forced you to make the piece that is parallel to the frame 4 or 5" long when you could have gotten away with maybe 2"?

No reason at all to make them that long, other than to avoid the shackle during it's full movement.

I overlooked the load that could be put on the bracket.

Rookie builder mistake. I think I have a solution. I am going to try a piece of 1" x 2" tubing above the mount to the frame. I will post some pictures later.

    Thanks for your input!!

I would lay that tube on its side and weld it, and add gusset plates over the other welds that you already have. Does that make sense?

Or maybe cut down that piece so it slides into the space and doesn't stick up.. ahh this is hard to explain haha.

It would be overkill, but overkill is better than not enough.

I understand, cut it down and stick it between the frame and new bracket.

I think that might be a really good solution. I might consider boxing the open end of the tubing that is perpendicular to the chassis too.

Your truck looks good,,excellent choice on the wheels. Leaving the truck a long bed makes sense.. My own truck once I put a tool box in the back leaving only 6' of bed,,not a lot of room for hauling junk home. I see you had a spare on the driver side,,I did as well and mounted a old tool box from one of my other trucks on the passenger side..filling those "holes" completes the truck IMO

    This weekends achievements:

Drivers door latch is done inside and out. Weather stripping also done. So impressed with the Altman kit. Easy to install and the doors latch so nice.

Bed is installed and loose bolted along with passenger side fender and splash guard between running board and bed.

Fiddled around tonight putting the seats bases in and cleaning up stuff. Spent some time with my 1 year old on my lap making motor noises and trying to honk the horn. Life is good!!

  30. That looks great......looks like it's time to take it for a spin.
