    hey guy's...
started to look at the extra motor i have for my 53'...
its a 54' powerglide engine, aluminum pistons ect. gonna tear it down this weekend, but first i wanted to check the casting numbers and engine stamp numbers(but the distributor)

    stamp numbers are... 0I64756 F54Y

cast numbers below are... CON1 L283

is this a replacement block? cant find anything(could be me) on these numbers... any info would be great!

    thanks jason

L 28 3 translates into November 28, 1953 for a casting date, so that's in line with what would have been in a '54.

F54Y is a '54 Powerglide engine (hydraulic lifters) produced in the Flint, MI plant.

(Same engine I have in my truck) The '54 PG engine was the highest HP output engine made in '54 except for the Corvette 6.
