chevy 10 bolt rearand

    ive been researching and still need to know what is the difference between a 8.2 and 8.5 chevy 10 bolt rearend are any of the internal parts interchangeable.the answer im looking for is not .3

    .3, sorry couldnt help it.

    8.2 is earlier 10 bolt 60's era, has a sideways "L" across cover, 8.5 is 70's and early 80's. 8.2 or 8.5 is ring gear diameter. carriers are not interchangeable, not sure on axles.

    gotta 8.5 in my car, kinda wondering myselfif its a good rear end, im gonna drag race some,,,,, if i ever finish it...........

    I've got over 80,000 mi on my 8.5 ten bolt behind a BBC. I've run it hard on the street and at the drags.
