Features Chevrolet El Camino thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, Oct 18, 2015.

  1. image.jpeg El Camino's have fascinated me since they first appeared in the 1959 model run of the passenger car/sport truck that Chevy sold.
Ranchero's started the ball rolling earlier with their knock out '57 design.
Even Studebaker played the game with its Lark bodied truck.

Could we start a thread featuring El Camino's, stock, modified, show trucks, anything that's kool?

I can't in good faith talk much about mine because it's off limits by a few years but thought it would be fun to see some pictures and discussion about the early El Camino's.

  2. Although my big block '72 can't make it here, I'm glad you started this one![IMG]
Here's a '59 doing some Halloween harvesting. Love the winged ones.

  3. El Camino's are just soooo right.
I fell in love with them right out the factory doors and have been enamored with them ever since.
If I had a million bucks it would most all be spent on El Camino's.

  4. There's a big thread already.
Been running strong for a few years

  6. I saw the Earl El Camino at the B-J Auction in Arizona about 3 years ago.
Red, Blue door, stock BB 454 engine.
Sounded stock but in good health and the body looked pretty decent too.
Sold late Sunday for cheap money.
Loved the 454 powerplant under its hood.

Always liked and have had several ElCamino's over the years. Also fascinated with the Holden Ute's that have been made in Australia going back to the 30's.
One of my current rides is a vision of what I thought an ElCamino might look like if they had made them in 1956.

Recently saw information about a 2016 version of the ElCamino that GM has been working on. IMG_5919.JPG IMG_1639.JPG

    Raymay,

I never get tired of looking at your El Camino. If you ever decide to sell it, please let me know.

  12. Well I don't own one and this one sure isn't mine but this is my favorite body of all the El Caminos ever build 1964 or 1965.

  13. How about a '60, tri power 348, 4 speed El, Camino. With work by Don Nicholson, Dad was able to set the B/Gas coupe record at all 5 1960 El Mirage meets. Earned enough points to be the 1960 SCTA Lakes champion.

Dean... In 1960-1963, the '60 El Camino with 348 & 4 spd was the 'Poster Child' down on the Main in San Jose, CA.
Most popular were the red, black, and white ones. (there were large numbers of those, not just one or two of each!)

  20. 2many - Your 70 - 72 must be damn nice judging by the spy photos. Nice wood in the bed, guess you aren't worried about the smuggler's box.

Always been a fan. Wish I still had my '71 LT-1. Never put a price (even ridiculous) on something you really don't want to sell. Lesson learned.:(
    That was a fun daily.

  22. That green '59 knocks me out.
Imagine the manhours invested to reach point of perfection.
    That car is pure art!
