chev alternator on a Mopar 318 LA motor

  1. has anyone done this? How hard was it to fit? there is a method to my madness.... really.....

    First thought was, why?

    As an answer, I have not done one myself, but, if both alts are about the same shape and size, I don't see where it would be a large issue. You may have to modify your bracket to fit the GM alt to the Mopar brackets, but I'd bet not by much, and of course you will have to deal with the wiring and voltage regulator. The 318 won't care what alt you have on it. Gene
     
  3. Yes you can. Did this on a 318 in a Willys a while back. It eased the wiring a bit, and we had the alternator in "stock". Also, put one on my 351W, I think I had to put an insert in the Ford mounting bracket to take the 3/8 bolt, instead of the ford 7/16 thread.
