I have looked all over google and not coming up with the date and engine pad suffix numbers to establish what I have. On pad: K0822TPA (K is Canada and the 0822 is Aug 22 assembly date but what is TPA? Cast at rear of block: 57LC (cast date?) (Year?) 10054727 This works out to an 86 and up pickup. I would like to know what year this Canada built block is. Thank you chevy guru`s.
Since it's Canadian and they had there own way of doing things. Try inverting the letter and numbers. Dec. 1987? Casting Date Example: E038 - (E = Month, 03 = Day, 8 = Last digit of model year (1978)). Month: A = Jan, B = Feb, C = Mar, D = Apr, E = May, F = Jun, G = July, H = Aug, I = Sep, J = Oct, K = Nov, L = Dec Source > http://www.gregwapling.com/hotrod/monaro-shrine/chev-small-block-v8-engines.html#VINCODE
All I can find is just about what you fond 86 350 One source says 89 Silverado but that was not a normal suffix code site. One reliable site does say that a lot of the truck codes aren't in the data base. From what I can find it is a 1 piece rear main seal 350. A real old thread on one site says that those blocks weren't set up for roller cams. It also said that most all of them were 2 bolt main. From there outside of the heads it has and the pistons being dished or flat top it doesn't matter much it is just a 1 piece rear main 350 and probably a decent builder. I never can figure out why guys get so frigging wrapped up in "exactly what year" the donor was that the engine came out of when it comes to small blocks anyhow except to know 2 piece main, 1 piece main or roller cam or 4 bolt main.

I have a ‘53 Victoria Crestline with a flathead V8 with a 3spd and an electronic overdrive. My engine started knocking and I can see lovely metal shaving in the oil. I want to replace my engine but I don’t want a flathead. I was told some early years of the 302 have the same bolt pattern and will bolt up to my original transmission. Is this true? Any guidance about it is greatly appreciated. Before anyone gets too excited, I’m not looking to make big power numbers. I just want an engine that is newer, easier to get parts for and easily converted to EFI without changing my entire driveline. I like my 3spd with E overdrive and I want to keep it. ^^^^^^^^^^^^What is this all about?? Because post #4 engine decode interpretation says the engine was 'originally' a TBI? If so, so what. The OP says nothing about FI now or in the future. In addition, to date, I don't recall ever seeing an admonition about SBC engines on the HAMB regardless of cubic inches or year model of the basic block. Ever heard of "getting the cart before the horses"?
