Brockmans are good and they will custom build what you want.

I have also used generic glasspacks for years with good luck. I pay about $11.00 each from the local exhaust wholesaler.

I like my Smithys on my 21 stud...low and quiet enough to talk to my passenger but sound good when "on it"! had a cherry bomb on my 223 six and it was a little obnoxiuos...just my $0.02

Flatheads and Smittys' are a hard to beat combo for sound! only thing I liked better "back in the day" were the Walker Continentals too bad they are not around any more.:(

I was running cherry bombs on my high school ride...loved 'em
had cherry bombs on my flathead...it didn't sound like someone farting in a bathtub full of water, it sounded tough and it sounded good...loved 'em
put cherry bombs on my SBC...nice sound...love 'em
Not a big fan of the Schmitty's. I always liked the bomb sound and performance so I never switched.

So I guess I didn't really answer your question did I? HaHa! Oh, well...

I guess if I was really ol' skool and kool and would run straight pipes...

The cherry bombs are usually just LOUD with out much tone. But then exhaust note while driving down the street/road is a personal thing and we can't all like the same thing.

I had an ol' time rodder in my shop and he asked me if I was gonna run Porters on my 50. He said back in Kansas they used to say "Smittys rumble, Porters roar". I'd never heard of Porters, so while we were talking, I Googled it and they have a cool website! They have audios of several different cars running Porters. My favorite is the 63 Riv. Boy, those things rap!! Try it! http://www.portermufflers.com/

Nothing sounds better than open pipes on a flathead.

  22. I like the construction of the cherry bomb, but the Smithy has a better sound. The cherry bomb is a bit louder than I like....

I have a buddy that has cherry bombs on his 62 impala and they sound way cool!!!

  25. Depends on whether you are in an open car or a closed car. I had bombs on my 67 in high school and it hummed on the highway and rumbled really good at idle. With the windows rolled up it was great. In an open car I would want something that wont make me deaf on a road trip. Then go with the Smittys. My dad runs em on his 47, they sound out with plenty authority.

You left out the most important choice, Porters.
They will sound way better than any of the others especially the cheesy bombs :D

  29. Google Walker Continentals, it looks like they are still available.
