Just made up a funky shifter for the Ford Pop. That's a Sierra 5 speed box, the bottom part is Sierra and the top bit is made from the original Pop lever. I had to keep the rearmost part down low, to clear the seats. It was about 4" longer/higher, but I had to cut it down as it was hitting the steering wheel when trying for 5th. I did a bit of quick-shift trickery in the lever base, moving pivot points etc. Cuts down on travel. One more tick in a box, one more step closer to completion. Mart.
It rules. I'm going to have to do something very similar in my car - only the gearbox is way up under the dash so the curve will be sort of flipped and rotated about 90 deg.
