Looks great. I'd drive it just like that with a big sh*t eating grin on my face. You do good work.

My first build was also a pickup with the same problems, Not much has changed in 46 years. New England was just as hard, as to rust.

I have a set of wires. But decided to run solids instead.

Jeff34 had his coated. Mine are still in original rusty condition.

Truck is coming along nicely, looking good. I ran 400 and 800 meters in high school, I was pretty fast, but that was a LOOOOONG time ago! Small world.

Fiddled around with fitting the hood today. Drivers side still needs some work around the hinge and the passengers side needs some more curve. I am only running the tops and I think I will run rods through the side hinge loops to keep it latched. image.jpeg

That's going to make a cool truck for sure. Yep family comes first. I've been trying to work on my 53 five window since 1992. Haha it's a lifetime project I guess.

image.jpeg Been busy with work family and getting ready for camping season. And I needed a break from sheet metal work and @Running shine posted such pretty pictures of his carbs and intake I felt bad and needed to measure up.
( honestly I got three parts carbs at the local swap and need to get the intake figured out so I can see if my hood will clear)
    Mmmmm sleazy carberator bits!

Oh I like it. I do like 32-34 pickups. I'm just about to start my second one.

Hell of an idea! I think I am going to ditch the gasket in favour of an O-ring as well.

Helicoil would be my first choice but I have made long lasting and nearly invisible similar repairs with JD Weld. It can be threaded. I know, I know………...:)

image.jpeg image.jpeg All fixed up and buttoned up and ready to test fit to make sure I can make air cleaners that will clear the hood easily.

Carter carbs sure are crap though! Something wrong when you need a hammer to install parts on a carb.

Looks good Matt. It's nice to see different carbs from time to time. Are you gonna run them progressive or in sync(not the boy band)

    Dumprat,
What did you clean the carb bodies with? They look good.

Jeff. They must be run together like a two barrel. I found with my 251 flat six the end holes run lean and centers run rich with one carb.

Jersey boy. I soaked the carbs in pine cleaner(knock off pinesol) then blasted them with recycled plastic, which works awesome! Then soaked them in alodine and water for two hours at about 1:20 water mix.
