Hey Guys; Went to a swap meet today ,and came home with an umbrella that must have been a promo item for Champion Spark Plugs.. Anyone have an idea on the history, year etc.?? I have NEVER seen one of these before.. Thanks; Rick
I got an autolite case with a plug cut in half...must have been some kind of sales promotion item... cool thermometer. Rick
cool man more pictures please!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry this photo is far away.....Oh and the wife is happy her desk at the shop is posted....HA!
I've never seen that before. But when I was growing up, I remember my dad having a Champion alcohol decanter that was shaped like a spark plug. I used to think it was the coolest thing.
no pic's, but I have a couple of oil filters with 'windows' cut in them so you can see the way the filter is designed inside. cool umbrella!
My dad had a few of these umbrellas at his service stations I can remember as a kid, I going to guess they were promo items that were free. We had a Champion spark plug cleaner mounted in the garage.
My mom has an apron made out of the same pattern/color as the umbrella. Has to be mid-sixties. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I have a thermometer similar to Hotrodprimer's and the same sign that does not have the thermometer. The plastic spark plug was purchased many years ago at Carlisle for $16. The Champion sign was an NOS item obtained at Charlotte Autofair Swap Meet during the 1980's for $75. Jim
I gotta see that apron..anyone have a shirt? reminds me of the "coca cola Pants!..LOL Rick ------------
I'll see if I can get my wife to model it. Gimme a few days. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Champion gave me that same set in the mid 60'S at Half Moon Bay Dragstrip when we were running Mordrop Axle's dragster.
I wish I had a nickel for every 'hot rodder' who came up to me and told me how Champion plugs were so bad they could barely allow an engine to run.
A better photo of the Champion plug, oh and the Evans Sign that I said I'd get a photo of(sorry it's on this thread)
One of the favorite widgets in my tool box. This used to belong to my Dad, before I made off with it. Most likely from the '60s. Champion Spark Plug Firing Indicator. You put the silver end on your plug wires, and it makes an orange flash in the window every time the plug fires.
I have one of those tie tac still use to wear it when I was a kid.I also have an Avon mens after shave thats in a spark plug bottle
I keep one of these in my toolbox. I use it quite often. Damn useful tool as long as you know how to read it.
