Technical ceramic coating Aluminized tubing ?

  1. Can you ceramic coat Aluminized tubing. Such as Automotive Exhaust Headers
    Going to Fab a new set of 2' headers for the Divco. IMG-20120818-00509.jpg .

    Most exhaust headers are not fabricated from aluminized tubing, but rather from bare mild steel, and in some cases stainless steel.
    That's because aluminized tubing can create problems with welding.

    In any case they do sandblast before ceramic coating.

    I build Headers, here is a set, 304 stainless, using 308 rod


    Just thought I would ask if anyone here has Ceramic coated Alum tubing. Clean the tubing, Tig welds just fine.
    Of course it has at least needs the shot penned, in order to be clean for oils

    Yes, We have coated aluminized tubing - for that matter we have coated Aluminum manifolds, cast Iron, Stainless, mild steel, and even certain plastics!
