"Casual T." "Casual rod." I've been trying to convey that thought for years. I've tried "perfect imperfection" "good enough" "good as it needs to be" I just get blank stares as if to say "YOU DON'T WANT IT TO BE AS GOOD AS IT CAN BE." Believe me my my roadster is far from perfect. Much bondo, old pitted chrome, as much work as I've put into the exhaust I'm still not happy with them. Then again I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere and whenever I take it to a major event it ends up in a mag. photo.
That car spells fun in a big way. It might not be a reacher nor a hot lick competitive show car but one a guy can hop in and just go have a fun drive.
My rod is still in work and probably won't be running yet this summer. when people would ask what kind of rod it was i'd tell them TRADITIONAL! now it will be causual.
I never was a fan of the 'T' buckets but they do provide a way for those who want to get involved in hot rods. My neighbor built one from plans in a book he read. Mostly built form junkyard parts, and handmade, got it running, but it scared the pants off him and I havent seen it since.
Yep Ryan, you hit on "another" cool Hot Rod......"casual"......I like the description What an interesting statement
wow- 'Casual hot rods' ..really well put, and so simple... it just makes sense I knew the style of hot rods I liked, but I never knew what to call them until today Thanks!
Very good post, Ryan. I've always liked the simpler cars because they seem to be the ones that get enjoyed for what they are. Be it a source of transportation or inspiration, I think they comprise the majority of the rods that get driven. The reason I like them is they seem to be the ones I can afford! Maybe I'll post some pics someday. Til then, Cat
Casual hot rod is a perfect description. So many, (especially the pro built cars) seem to be trying too hard.
