Are Model A pedal arms cast steel or what are they made of? I'm thinking of using a set to be modified by re-bending and welding on different arms for a frame-mounted clutch and brake MC assembly. Just curious what I'd be dealing with. I've thought of plasma cutting a pair of pedal arms, but modifying a set of stocker Model A pedals seems a bit quicker/easier. Thanks Lynn
They are steel forgings . They are really good material, and can be reshaped & welded with no problem .
Go for it. I'd show you a picture of my shortened, welded and bent 32 brake pedal but its too hard to get at.
Heated and bent and heated and bent and heated and bent. All to accommodate a significantly lowered steering column. And there's a provision for the M/C rod welded to the base of the brake pedal.
I've heated and bent several and welded an arm on the bottom for the master cylinder with no problems, Ford used good steel in the old days.
