carpeting a channeled car?

    when you carpet a channeled car where should the carpeting cover up to,the channel is about 6in and wondering if it should go down all the way, also what type of sills have been made for this,pics would be helpful thanks for everyones time.

    You talking about covering, or not, the side of the new "step" in the door jamb?
    If you do, you better had make it with far enough clearance for the thickness of the carpet so the carpet doesn't push out on the bottom of the door.
    The sill? should be steel just a (6"in your case) extension of the inner floor framing.

    older trucks had that "step" why cant a car? i would just start after that "step"

    On my '33 (4 inch channel) I painted the step and stopped the carpet on the top. I think either way would be fine though.
