I got these carbs from a friend, he said they were off "a sports car" I have seen similar ones but don't know what they are. I have a hairbrained idea about adapting them to a Ford Ranger 4 cyl.

I thought maybe S U's, but there's no markings on them. What's the chance they'd work on a ford 2.3???

They'd probably work, although they were generally used on smaller engines -- 1.5 to 1.8

Used on volvos, british and japanese cars, mostly in the 60s

  7. Will work great. carbs dont give a hoot what they are on. They mix fuel with air and engines all require the same mixtures with only minor variations. For instance when you buy a Holley 750 that is what it is. Not a chev carb or a mopar carb (there is one with a Ford kickdown linkage but that isa mechanical deal and has nothing to dowith the fuel system and its requirements. SU have a little shocj k absorber insde that need a drop of trans oil to dampen things. They work well and are virtually trouble free. David Vizard in hs book on such things mentions that some can be easily modified to flow300 CFM. They will work well for you , go for it!
