Hey guys, look this video from Elaintarhan Ajot ( Zoo Garden Race ) . It is taken in 1948 and you see what kind of racecars was in here in 20-50's COOL VIDEO. Language is in finnish, you may not understand a single word, but this is authentic material from 1948!! http://yle.fi/elavaarkisto/?s=s&g=3&ag=88&t=29&a=448
My father was watching this competition on . He was nine years old at that time. Also always in later years he was on the spot. So yes ,I would and I do, if this race still be driven with these same car's and bike's. But it is no longer such''dangerous''car races, run in the middle of the trees . This was certainly a lot subtler than the track competitions with protected-areas etc. These kind of ''golden days'' newer come back i'm afraid .
car number 19 is still there. I've seen it in the late 90's. Then it was the right project, but now again lost one. But i know it is somewhere in finland .
Neat film, surprisingly well done and with such a cool group of racing specials. Thanx for posting this, Gary.
That is one of the coolest films ever, and sound to boot. I wondered if any of those guys would nail one of those close proximity trees, yep. Thanks for a uber cool glimpse into the time period. Love the street cars and the whole setting is awesome. ~sololobo~
