3 on the tree with a saginaw trans. Pops out of third while around 70MPH. The is no warning, shake or anything before this happens. Any suggestions on where to start? Recently replaced: clutch, pressure plate, and driveline.
Check the adjustment on the 3rd gear linkage. You may not be fully engaging 3rd gear. Either that or the synchros are getting worn. Recent rebuild?
Try replacing the Shiftfork. I had the same problem with my 235 Chevy with three on the tree. Only did it at the higher speeds good luck Jeff
lotsa things can cause it, including loose motor/trans mounts, wrong bellhousing (centering hole too big so trans is off center), worn input shaft synchro teeth, worn synchro sleeve, worn transmission bearings, as well as shift fork or linkage problems.
There is an adjustment to the linkage. Your trans in probably not fully engaged in third and that why it jumps out. Adjust the throw of the linkage by putting everything in line while in neutral and go from there.
