So my car went in as a stock 47 Ford and Moonlight Kustoms returns it as this, and I love it!!!!!!! I kinda pushed Bill to get it to me so I can drive it, so in the winter we (Bill with me being a pain in the ass) is going to finish the front and rear bumpers and paint it.
Lookin great Mike. Billy does nice work and it's a huge improvement over the way it started. That new front end treatment is bad ass
Cool! are you still gonna chop it? I have been slacking on getting Billy all of the progress pics from my chop!
Chad, yes I still want to chop it and thanks for all the help and your posts. Man you car looks great
I'm glad you like it John. My old partner did about 75% of the metalwork before things went south between us. I took some time off from it with John's blessing to get my stuff together and finished up the rest of the metalwork and all the bodywork with the car fighting me the last few weeks. It took way longer than either of us had planned but John was patient and understanding. What do you guys thinki for color? We were thinking either solid dark blue, or solid dark maroon. I was thinking a solid dark green as well. Photoshop anyone?
a lot of nice work there, the car would look good in solid blue or solid maroon, think i would prefer the maroon though.
Thanks! But if you want to chop it, your gonna have to revise your title (almost done)! What a freakin can of worms that is. Not trying to steer you away though, it will be well worth all of the work it is, and it will look awesome! But it makes everything from the headliner, to the windows, to the stainless window trim, to the glass channel a whole lot more work than if it were stock height. Buy no one said being cool was easy! Are you gonna run skirts?
Ha, flat white is the new flat black. Skirts are ready as well, just need to find some different rims for the rear to gain some clearance before they can go on. Wide whites are in the mail, I hope. (Right John?!?!?!???!?) It has an MII in the front, manual rack. SBC. Coilovers in the rear with what I think is a 2 link w/ a panhard? I'm no suspension man, I huff paint fumes. John is still up in the air on the chop, as am I. No doubt the car would look great with one, just not sure if I'm ready to take on that sort of a project right now until I get a few under my belt. He's also considering molding in the rear fenders like your Chad, which I think would look great. Anyway, it came a long way from where it was. I don't have any overall before shots I realized, but maybe John does. It was very street rod esq. This is it for round one, we will reconvene this winter.
The molded fenders does a lot to smooth things out, and is pretty easy to do. Are the skirts fiberglass or originals?
Steel ones he found online. I forget where. They're not bad lookin and they didn't cost an arm and a leg and they're new. Home run.
They must be the ones from skirtsandmore. I talked to that guy, very nice, and he mailed me pics of his skirts on a car, tiny pics, but no closeups of the actual skirts by themselves. For the price (I think 275) I was a bit concerned about how good they actually would be, as to hand build them, and get the crown right, should cost a lot more it seems. My skirts are Big Jims glass ones, and I wont be using them. They are too thick (stick off of the car over 1/4"), and you can tell immediately from that, that they are fiberglass. Do you have a pic of the metal ones?
That does sound familiar. No I don't have a pic though. To be honest, they're not as nice as originals. The crown is there, however not as prevalent as it should be. They are very thin which I like, probably like 20 gauge and form to the fender which will help with the crown when mounted. They have a factory style lock arm at the top and tabs on the bottom. I'll snap a pic this week sometime for ya.
I pretty much fail at photoshop...but I tried it in maroon. Not too bad, but i kinda like it in white.
Looks good, hope to see it at Lead East for closer inspection! (Gotta check out old Bill's work up close!)
