    Thank you very much :)

  4. My guess is the tag for trucks will tell you if it’s 1 ton are 3/4 ton and so on

The apparent spelling mistake lower down is interesting.

  7. ...Good catch.

  8. Just curious...what year did Chrysler start using the Pentastar logo? 818f98df-ca24-4619-a5df-b90c9ceee235.JPG

  10. They began using it during the 1963 model year. My 63 Dodge has a pentastar emblem on the lower right front fender and they only put them on those built later in the model year.

I find it hard to beleive Chrysler would have a mistake like that on their VIN plates. I have checked some others online and the mistake is not there....... Weird.

Strange they would have DeSoto on the tag since the last Desoto was 1961

  14. I am guessing it's a repro. That would explain the spelling mistake and the Pentastar showing up on the same plate as Desoto.

The plate doesn't even look (to me) like it has ever been mounted as the rivet/screw holes don't appear to have been drilled yet.

Most likely that is a reproduction tag.

  16. It appears Desotos were made thru 1963 in countries like South Africa and a few others, so that might explain it.

The picture is of a loose (poor quality) non original data plate, not a car.
It's also unfilled. I wonder if the German authorities will catch on that it's not a real data plate.
I doubt it's legal to fill out and put on a vehicle.

Does the car have its original data plate on it?

Weirdly enough, that is the correct spelling of weird.
An exception to the general rule.

Anyhow, weird that DeSoto is mentioned in a 1977 shop manual.

I read that Chrysler bought millions of those tags and used them until they ran out of them.
