Seems like I've made a hobby lately of cruz'n the car for sale ads just to see what's out there and for how much. The thing that I've noticed across the board is the use of sayings, you know those little comments about the vehicle in question. Here are a couple so how about you what have you noticed lately?

    1. Ran good when she was parked.

    2. Titles on the way.

    3. Was going to do a father/son project before he died.

Post 'em up guys, this could be fun.

"All the hard work is done"
And in the pictures you see a car with no paint, interior, wiring or an engine.

  11. Reads '...very little rust...' which usually translates to '...very lotta rust...'

    Price is firm

    No tire kickers

    No scammers

  15. "Rust in the usual places"
    "Have most parts to finish"
    "Rare"
"Should be easy to get a title"
"One weekend to get it back on the road"

    And the list goes on...

Body work done, ready for paint

  17. "100% restored to original" .... then the ad describes all of the modifications (engine / tranny swap, chopped top, bagged, flake paint, etc).

"Model A 5-window coupe" like there were any other Model A coupe window configurations (other than the one Henry Ford 3-window prototype). If it's a Sport Coupe, then that is how to describe it.

"Title in sellers name" ...... Who's name would you expect it to be in?

    Needs restored

Needs [insert part] and will be road ready, and the part is only $10

Rare and hard to find (usually refering to the 4dr sedan of most any car)

Show winner (usually the local cruise nite)

Cruise craigslist and you can see/read a completely different language at times. Spelling's out the window too. As sad as it is funny.

  20. Not really a "car saying" as such, but if I see one more Studebaker with "Rude Stude" anywhere on it, I may go on an axe murdering spree. I like Studebakers and all, but it's not clever anymore.

I swear that IM not making this up. Yesterday I went to look at a car to buy for parts mainly. When I got there , I asked the guy what was wrong with the engine?? He replied, " One of the horses jumped track !! " I couldnt help but laugh, but he never cracked a smile.

"will consider trades" but never gives you a idea of what their looking for

  24. I'm guilty. Here's the craigslist ad that I ran when I sold my '37 sedan.

    http://streetrodder.net/?p=423

Take your pick on which one is most offensive! I'd say the one that said "Very traditional street rod" is the most offensive, but my wife claims it is the "All the chicks dig it" line.

  25. The term "rebuilt engine" usually means something completely different to seller than it does to me.

All "original" '57 Chevy with 350 sbc engine. I didn't know they had 350 sbc's in '57. Must be a special edition worth lots of money.
