Where are we on this matter? Seeing as how i'm in the mid south, I would love to hear about when and where with a little time to get the A rolling. Steven. There will be few to do this and I just want to hook up with them so we can roll together. Steven.

I would be fuckin down in a heartbeat! I have a trick up my sleeve....I'm bringin Captian Chaos!!! hahaha

  3. Never said it was the same thing, did I? It is what they are doing these days. I said "replaced by..." The Cannonball Run name is apparently owned by someone who would not let C&D use the name. Simple.

I'm glad they didn't let them use the name. It's like calling a bicycle race around the block the Indy 500.

Little song I wrote to tease my dad:

"Grandpa bought a Cadillac, I didn't think he still could drive
Couldn't stay awake to save his ass, it's a wonder were still alive
Grandma won't go out with him when he gets the itchi'n
She stays safe and warm at home ramblin' round the kitchin
Oh Grandpa, keep your wheels on the ground
Grandpa, you'd better not leave town
Grandpa, check your door did you shut it tight
You'd better get home real soon there pops cuz I know you can't see at night.
Banjo solo (I can't play banjo) then tempo slows...
The old man parked his car in the road, gave up the ghost and went to see the lord.
All he ever wanted was another ride or two so he stole the keys and broke out of St. Joseph I.C.U.
How far in this world can you get without a spleen
When your bowels are in a bag and your liver's done turned green.
Alheimers' half et yer mind and you don't know what to do just steal the keys and break out of St. Joseph I.C.U." © 1998 Michael Ederer

You all realise 'the man' has now read that and hot rodders the country over are being targeted??
    I know fo'sho' that if I was livin' (L, I, V, I, N, man....Livin!(Wooderson)) in the US I would be there.
    Hell yeah.

apparently, if you race across the country you'll get in a fight with some motorcycle dudes. it happened in all three movies!

  10. If reliability is an issue, how about a "Paris-Dakar Rally" format. Split the run into 3 legs. Everyone starts at the same time each day. First one across the line at each stop wins that leg. Total margin of victory for all legs determines overall winner.

How about Manhattan to Indy (Bubbas?), to Bonneville (Wendover), to Long Beach?

I expect that this will be a hot rod event and does not need to necessarilly follow any other events including the cannonball format.
Behind the scenes there is some support for a run to the center event with mulitiple start points.
Still worth the effort in my book.
I will almost do anything for free cookies.

any chance if this does happin they need to go though ann arbor and detroit on I94 as a detour so i can see all ya guys and im pretty close to the cookie house......he he he he......

We have 2499 pages of HAMB members and I'd guess at say 50% living in the USA so that is 1250 pages say and at least 10 names to a page so we at the very least 12,500 potential takerseven 1% of that is more than you would want to have some serious competition, especially if they are enticed by a shorter event and can start at various points.
Sure you are right about the guys we all know that put their hands up for everything but when it counts they always have an excuse.
    We do spectators!!!

Ive done the Lower East Side to Missoula, MT....

    No sleep....2 others....driver, sleeper, navigator(cop watcher)

Its the only time ive gone 100 miles an hour for like 45 minutes straight.

My boy would wake up...look at the speedo....swear alittle and go back sleep.

    Gotta love eastern Montana.

My trip to the HAMB Drags this year, I kept track from Raleigh to just the other side of St. Louis, (Rolla MO). I averaged 68-69mph for about 930 miles. It's pretty tough and that's pretty much hauling ass. Of course someone to talk to would have been helpful. There is so much to slow you down, rain, traffic, gas, food, cute goth chick that wants to talk to you about your car. You know the usual. Sea to sea will be tough. Better than 70mph average, really tough.

I would love to do it, the only problem is radio is faster than rubber, might have to go into stealth mode and pick up an old 50 ford cop car and keep the lights running all the way across the state!!!

It appears the original Portofino Inn that we knew an loved from the movies is now a Yacht Club. Anybody have any info on when the original met it's demise? Check the info under "history". I'm thinking the yacht club probably not going to be too receptive to this as an ending point..

How about some where a littel further north like Ventura Beach, since this would be a hot rod event and we get a chance to make our own history.
I am open to suggestions from the folks in CA.

Maybe we should beg for forgiveness afterwards, better then asking for permission beforehand and being turned down.
