<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1; COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> Hey The organisers of the W.O.W (ISCA) would like to have a 'Suede Palace' style section included at their show this coming February in Calgary, and are looking for 20 period hot rods/customs to display. This 'show within a show' is intended to attract cars and people that maybe would'nt usually attend at this sort of event , and to show the general public what traditional/period hot rodding is all about. There will be specific vendors in the Vintage Alley , along with music , a tatooist , pinstripers ,artists and some other attractions that are yet to be confirmed , which should all add up to a really cool section of the show that everybody will want to visit. The organisers have asked the Diablos Car Club to host this part of the show , and to that end i'd like to ask any of you guys and girls to submit pictures and info of your period rods/customs on this thread or to me at [email protected] so that we (the organisers and the Diablos)can pick a good selection of rides that demonstrate the genre of hot rodding that is often mis-understood. There will be trophies specific to this area , the Diablos are going to make a couple of them , and if any other clubs want to build one that would be fantastic , and more than welcomed. Any vendors that think they might want to be a part of this event can also contact me by e-mail. Looking forward to some positive replies. This is an opportunity , traditional hot rodders should'nt miss Spock <!-- / message --><!-- controls -->
Just to clarify a few points: This is the Calgary World of Wheels show, an ISCA sanctioned event. (Similar to Detroit Autorama, but not quite on the same scale as in size of it. Still a good show and the new organizers are trying to expand the interest) Show dates are February 17, 18 & 19, 2012. As Spock indicated, the Suede Palace portion is a "show within a show" and will have its own trophies if you're looking for trophies. There has been enough "whines" over the years that there was no venue for "traditional styled" hot/rods & customs, or "old school styled" to show them. Well here is your chance to show it. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If the Suede Palace is successful, it will be continued and can only grow.
Sounds like a great idea. I am not sure if i would be able to make it but here is a shot of my truck. It is not really show material but I think it is reasonably traditional?
More than happy to be there! I've talked it over with the rest of the Clutch Poppers, and we all agreed to help out in anyway we can! You need us, just ask, we'll be there! I think this is a good thing, Alberta needs this!
Yes Butch would like too most likely but his concern is driving the highway in mid-February can be hairy depending upon the weather. Plus he doesn't want to trailer it down/back as he feels the "A" will punish him for it as its never been trailered at all.
If it comes down to it, my dad works for trio towing and I'm sure would help out taking it down there..
A bump, even though the show is mid-February 2012, its really not that far away. On another forum, Spock indicated they are about half way to their goal, plus tracking down a few to invite. so they are still looking for rides.
Mike, is that your little speedster?! That is outstanding! My 50 is by no means show condition but if there is any way I can help out with this please let me know. Would you be looking for corporate sponsors?
Contact Spock at [email protected], I'm sure he can help. I would suggest you send Spock pics of your '50 and let them make the decision. It doesn't have to be a show car to get in. And yes, that Mike's Speedster.
Another bump reminder. Spock is still in need of another 6 rides for this new show within a show. In Spock's own words: Come guys , step up , dont be shy..and dont be 'too cool for school' lets put on a show!!!
So he "signed" you up did he, both are nice rides. He thinks the HRT should be shown on its own rather in the "alley". I think it was a nice way of saying it didn't meet the criteria....lol Still thinking about that, but do have until Jan 19 to make up my mind.
It's a work in progress and not running right now, bit I could get it there. Could even make some improvements between now and then. Doug.
I not sure he "signed" me up? I asked if he would consider ether of the two and he said both where in?
George, i dont own it anymore but im pretty sure the new owner is entering it! my new car would fit the bill quite nicely but it will not be ready in time.
GNRS this year, Del? I'm flying in Thursday afternoon and hoping to run up to the "Old Crow" open house and stop in at Lucky's. Peter
