A sea of hot rods lined up for the poker run. Could only get about 20% of them in a photo. It was a great day to be in Victoria. We are in Hot Rod Heaven! 20190720_082959.jpg 20190720_084357.jpg

Even though it was Deuce Days there was such a great mix of cars there. Kick ass all original 55 wagon, survivor 3 window hot rod built in the 60’s the world famous @canadianhotrods magazine shop truck! Fell in love with the 29 coupe. It was the only coupe I recall seeing that was sporting a black frame instead of a matching colour. I guess it’s biased but I find the black frame really makes the body colour pop even more. Little coupe was kick ass!!

A big thank you to Bill and Neil Lemon of B & N Hot Rod, Maple Ridge, B.C. for all their hospitality during Deuce Days. Thanks Bill, Reg, and Vern for putting together the great run up the island on Friday. Got to visit several great shops and collections. Hot Rodding is well and truly a part of the Victoria experience. If 2022 occurs, WE WILL BE THERE!
Saw this post on FaceBook by Larry O'Toole from Castle Maine, Australia, editor of Australian Street Rodding and Street Rodding International. I think he summed Deuce Days up perfectly and we quote "Recovered now from an amazing day at Deuce Days North West in Victoria Canada so time to post a few pics. Probably the best hot rod show I have ever seen. Entire centre of Victoria shut down for a free hot rod show in the streets. Official estimates put the crowd at 100,000 plus. It was truly spectacular. Minimal police, no security, no traffic control and it all works because people are basically sensible. What a breath of fresh air. Enjoy the pics. Big congrats to main organizer Al Clark."

Really enjoyed my 4 days at the show. Hoping it happens again in 3 years and I’m around to partake. Heard from locals that the mayor is a bicycle person and there was concern about all the cars parked in the bicycle lanes before Sunday. According to them she was just reelected for another 4 years.

What a great event (again). The drive out and back home were a blast even though we had a little moisture on the way out. Wife snapped a couple pics for shits and giggles. Oops, forgot the rainx on her side.

Friday and Saturday events were awesome and I must admit getting up Sunday morning was a little rough thanks to the great hospitality of the islanders and the local (BC) beverages.
Kinda a funny story as I slept in til 5:30 and wandered out front of the hotel with a coffee in hand but still half asleep, asked a parking official if they still wanted a real 5W this late (as parking seemed almost over), he strongly encouraged me to ‘git it’ and then he walked me/car to a pretty cherry spot in front of the gov’t building. LMFAO at the looks from the pre-dawn power parkers as I was directed to park piglet at the end of the inner row. Honestly felt a little guilty, but wtf I was just following orders, so parked the beast, pulled off the bug screen, wiped her down and went back to bed. ZZZZZ.

Seriously though, it was an amazing event and hard as I tried, I’m sure I saw less than 70% of the cars. Will definitely return in 2022!

Thanks to Al and his great volunteers for pulling off such a great event.
And to the folks in Langford, holy crap you know how to make a visitor feel welcome. The cheering at town square when we rolled through was amazing.
    Cheers.
