The tall one is Marvin (aka ‘Stretch’), the other three are his triplet siblings, Ned, Ted and Fred.......
I have a set of these I picked up years ago . like Buckeye said I don't trust them to hold up the car I use then to support stuff (like cross members and axles)
in the early days of the automobile many folks did not drive in winter, and instead put the car "up on blocks" to save the tires. a set of 4 like this is probably what they were for
I think they were made by Walker, there have been a couple past discussions over on the Garage Journal forum about them. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318564&highlight=vintage+jack+stands&showall=1 From what I've read over there they came both with and without the flat base plates on the bottom.
Yes, They are Walker units. Made right here in Racine, Wisconsin. Walker was sold to Teneco years ago and since has relocated the HQ to Texas I believe. They made some indestructible jacks, bay lifts, jack stands, etc, they also made mufflers.
I have a pair of those that were my dad's. I still use them depending on the job but I never liked the small base. To easy to tip over if set to high.
They are definatly Walkers. I have 4 also, 2 of them were also my dads. He worhed for Western Auto in the 30-40's and may have come from there. I bought 2 more 15 years ago. They were a medium blue metallic when new. Mine do not have the plates and I would sure like to get a few sets of the decals.
I bought a pair like that with the bottom plates from a auto dealer closure auction. They are not flimsy, they are well built and I trust them and have used them a lot!
Got a set of four just like that I've had for probably 40 years. Got them used, not sure of the brand. Mine are green.
