Can You Cut a Choke Cable that has a Hard Plastic Housing?

  1. Have One That Came With The Car. Its Solid Metal Internal Wire, And Hard Plastic housing on the Outside, With The Dot indentation Crimps.Too Long, Need it to be Shorter. Can It Be Cut to Size and Recrimped, or do I have to buy a new one? = more Money Spent. Thanks.

    shorten the cable and the housing the exact same amount.
     
  3. I Understand. But Is it Possible to Cut One With a Hard Plastic Housing and Reattach it?

    If you can't use it you got nothing to loose, cut it.
     

  5. pull the cable out then cut the housing first then re insert cable/ cut the cable down last........

    If it's horribly stuck in the housing ends, cut it somewhere in the middle of the outer sleeve and use another section of plastic or whatever to connect the two pieces. A nice epoxy to hold all that together is ideal.

    You can cut it with a DREMEL tool using a 426 reinforced cut-off wheel. It can cut plastic and metal.

    The most important piece of advice in the thread. ;) Around the HAMB you can't automatically assume that someone will think to do that.
     
  10. Yep, cut it with a cut off wheel.
    The better motor sports and power equipment places carry the crimp ends as well as adjustable ends.
