some guys describe things and don't post a picture... Thanks for the picture. What diameter? Width? Bolt pattern? I had some chrome reverse wheels that looked a lot like those. '50 Chevy centers in I think Chrysler rims.
Nope..it's a big Olds/Pontiac rim. The 3 slots are for hubcap clips. Those wheels came in 14, 15 and 16 inch diameters. Bolt pattern on all of them is 5 on 5" The taller ones were narrow....the shorter ones were wider. I used 'em on every Pontiac and Olds I ever owned. This is my 41 Pontiac coupe with genuine GM wheels....16" on the back with pickup radials and 15s on the front with skinny radials...hubcap clips were available on ebay That design was used from 1937 up into the mid 60s...
Sorry guys I wrote it quickly. It came on a 40 willys gasser chassis and it's a 5 on 5 bolt pattern and it's a 15"
Use your tape measure and measure from the edge of one bolt hole, to the center of bolt hole like marked in the photo. would help identifying it. Also near the valve stem inside the wheel should be a stamp that says something like jj 15x 5.5 That would be a 15" wheel 5 1/2" wide This is a dodge wheel and measures 4 1/2" in the photo.
I have a 14" and a 15" and I stupidly handed them to my wheel guy to reverse them thinking that they were both 15". So i guess I'll be searching for a 1937 up into the mid 60s pontiac/olds steel 15" wheel.
If you can’t find a Pontiac/Olds wheel you could use Buick wheels, full size car, same wheel bolt pattern ....they have 5 slots instead of 3....but similar appearance otherwise....you’d probably want a pair to have exact matching wheels. Ray
Full size Buick wheels from ‘40s thru ‘76 are 15” x 5” bolt circle, but vary in width from 5” to 6.5”, most being 5.5” to 6”. Later model Roadmaster and Chevy Caprice (‘92/‘96) also have 15 x 5” bolt circle, though many had aluminum wheels, some were steelies. Chevy and GMC pickups from ‘71 up are 5 x 5” bolt circle until much later when they went back to 6 bolt wheels. Ray
