A friend of mine saved this from the crusher. But what is it? Its 37" wide and 16" tall. The knobs on each side loosen up and it has 3 different angle holes. Tilted up, straight, or tilted down. He thought is was a pushbar but its too light and has decrotive chrome strips. Any ides? I'm sure someone knows exactly what it is.
Lay it down to put luggage on, or up and out of the way when not in use (most stick out to or beyond the rear bumper when down).
If you look on E-bay someones got one listed that looks almost the same as yours. We had one like it on our 35 chevy sedan.
... except for the bowtie... Hey, where are you in Pittsburgh? My wife lived in Squirrel Hill/Shady Side for a while (I grew up in Philly)!
It's definitely a Chevy fold down luggage rack from the '20s or '30s. Ever wonder why trunks were called as such? Think about what would have been roped onto the luggage rack.
Looks like a 33 -35 Chev Luggage rack. They were painted fender colour and had polished stainless for chrome strips on them. Dealer Assessory. The Old Tinbasher
