I bought this cool Stewart Warner emblem for $1 at a flea market! I am curious to find out what it was used on. Can anyone help me out? (Quarter is for size comparison)
Wow, thanks for the quick answer! Sorry SUHRSC, but I think I'm gonna keep it to put on my dash. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one of those heaters. Thanks!
never seen a heater with that on it. for some reason I think it is off a display..?? Here's what I picture as a southwind.
Thats a great emblem, in nice shape too! That was actually off of a 1930's-40's Stewart Warner refrigerator, and also a couple of their radios used that emblem too. A good friend of mine has one on his fridge, they are really art deco. That would look great on a dash filled with crescent needle gauges.....
I've seen fridge emblems and they are usually stamped tin and chromed, and about 4 or 5 inches across. I'd bet this smaller enameled emblem came from a radio. Definitely not from the style Southwind heater that most of us are familiar with.
Thanks again for the information. I didn't know Stewart Warner made refrigerators or radios! The emblem is stamped metal (1/16th thick?), and probably used to be chrome, but it has worn off. The green does seem to be enamel.
Just today I got a really cool thermostat from a house with the Stewart Warner logo on it. Apparently they made all kinds of cool shit.
