Seen these for sale and have never seen a pair. Supposedly SBC and they're asking $1000 for them. Has anyone ever seen a pair of these?

The seller has no idea what they are. Have no markings in/on them anywhere.

  5. He wants $1000 for covers he has no history or even a manufactuer name on

    Don't look like SBC.

Offenhauser made a LOT of aftermarket stuff... but those look fabricated? Racing stuff?

    Breathers look pretty standard.

Air cleaners look like typical Offy.

Someone here will ID them! :D

Wow, I have the exact same covers. I've never been able to ID them.

Is there any markings on those?

Nope no markings at all. At first I thought they were Larsen valve covers but those ones are two piece with removable top that is held on with 6 bolts. These ones are one piece. Would like to have them but no way am I going to pay $1000!!

Those were available in the late 70's and early 80's to hide the spark plug wires.
The theory was you would notice the valve covers and not the wires.

That makes sense. Smallblock valve covers that make it look like a big block. Must be for those STREET RODDERS?!

Couple more pics. I was gonna add some breathers, but agtw31 advised me not to. He painted the area between the fins after he polished them (before & after) - sorry, crappy phone pic

BTW, he a damn good polisher. Been using him for years

I like them but would rather buy a pair of BBC EELCO valve covers (when I finally find a pair)

Looks like, to me, oil would collect in the area that hangs over and drain back would be poor. Might not collect much but, how much of your oil don't you want getting back to your sump? If it builds up high enough it could blow out those breathers, which is probably why they're for sale.

I'd assume they would be mounted with the extra space toward the carburetor to provide more top end volume to cool the oil and provide separation for installing breathers.

That's not how they are mounted on the engine in post #8

They only fit one way. Will hit the throttle going the other way.

No oil collects in them, but I don't think I would add breathers like that on mine. I drilled the back of my intake & put a breather there. My PCV is like a 66 327 Vette arrangement. I was going to install breathers just like those 90 deg Offys too, but the guy that polished them talked me out of it. They will be listed in the for sale section.

Here's the breather filter I have in back of intake. Drilled a 1" hole & threaded it - just forward of the distributor hole

    & here's the PCV system I'm using (PCV #1770, tube #1252, cap #1254, & hose kit #1678K)
