My Lokar shifter is too long for my car. Could i shorten the handle and maintain the proper length of cable and just reassemble it?
I know the chrome would be ruined but,....anyone tried it??

If you can think it, you can do it.

Shorten the cable sheath and cable the same distance as the handle you shorten. You may have to re-solder the cable stay.

I shortened mine and did the welding low where the boot hides it. No one can tell it has been shortened.

Thanks, i figure if the cable sticks out the same distance as it is stock, it should all go back together again.

I usualy do model A's, so when i went for the shifter i automaticaly got the long one.
I like the idea of cutting it at the bottom too.
