What do you guys think about using a ring gear spacer in a Camaro 8.2? I want steeper gears and don't have the money to replace the rearend. The rearend is in a 28 Ford Coupe and will never use slicks or banzai starts.

Those aren't that great to start with, wouldn't a s10 4x4 rear be better? It comes with 3.42 or 3.73 factory.

Purchase the correct carrier and you can leave the housing in place. I know that some gearset makers frown on using the spacer and rightly so. Instead of the ring gear being flat against the carrier, now you've added long bolts to pull by. I would try not to use a spacer if at all possible.

most gear companies offer thick gears for 2 series carriers to 3 and 4 series gears
