OK You're stupid Just kidding, did not know either but had my "suspicions" It could be Fantastic New Guy Mike www.Customikes.com
Wow been here since 07' and didn't know what a FNG was. I personally lurked from 2002 till (7-11) 08'. I figured out what FNG meant real quick just by reading newbies getting beatdown by the early old timers. I waited until I had a HAMB worthy car to sign up though, unlike alot of newer members. Found the HAMB through the SAMBA.-Weeks Oh yeah, I like when it stands for (F)ucking (N)ew (G)irl.
the thing is the old timers were FNG's at one stage as well. as far as newbies getting a beatdown by them. These FNG's are the guys that will carry on the traditions so i think a little respect should be expected. What shits me is it states when you join that this forum promotes traditional rods and customs. it also says the forum doesnt cater to new fellas till they earn respect?? yet FNG's post legitimate questions and posts and get beatdown, yet a post about what on your desktop background or who drives with their arm out the window get hundreds of replies?? absolute farce. Should be supporting and nurturing the new guys coming in not turning them away and monitoring the topics being posted and keep it ON topic!! Cheers, somewhat Mick
Mick, Hello. You know that many questions can be answered by using the search box. I have searched '30 Coupe' and got more answers than I had questions. Lots more. Old guys- New guys? I've read a few 'old' guys answers, and know they are wrong,so?, I've read new guy answers that were great. Don't belive everything you read or SEE. Want to build a Hot Rod? Read all you can, go to car shows, study, then YOU decide, it's your car. Good Luck, if they aren't shooting at you,...it's all small stuff. Lucky667
You have to be careful with that term. I used it at work to describe some hires and got my butt chewed, not too PC to call people FuNuGees.
the posts you talk about were created by people who been around here a year or two, not exactly old timers.
I agree with the comments here~ how about that to keep the peace huh? However, I have met a lot of great poeple here (ol timers, newbies, guys and gals....and some I am not sure about..LOL) and it has given me great hope that this wonderful sport is going to continue.... my main question now is, how long do I have to be a FNG?? (fun-gi??) Like the mushroom who walks into a bar and asks for a beer.. the bartend says, "we don't serve your type in here", to which the mushroom replies, "why not, I am a fun-gi..." yeah, yeah, I know..don't give up your day job.....
50 posts just do what lucky does and welcome a bunch of other fng's and you're on your way to becoming a newbie. then you become a grenade inspector. then a member. a senor member and finally an old school hamber. or if you're hung up on titles, put out the 50 bucks and become an alliance member.
No, it doesnt. What it says here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44274 is "We dont cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first." Meanig, prove you can and will Post On Topic and Relevant things. That doesnt seem to much to ask... Other than that... Dont get all concerned with those Titles. They are not important at all. The way to build a good reputation is to Post lots of Relevant stuff...
Metal, even that works for me... thanks... whatever way you cut, this board is incredible and the comradreship is more important~
When Lucky signed up, 5-6 of the "GREATEST" HAMB'ers stopped what they were doing and said hello. Thanks. Lucky watched & often saw that no one welcomed some FNGuy's. Let a FNGirl sign up and watch 20 of us trip over ourselves to say HELLO. Lucky decided to act like Wal-F'ing-Mart and greet every FNG. Except the one's that used 'rat rod' too many times, I usually warned them. Most of us live, eat, & breathe Hot Rods, & when we sleep we dream about them. Lucky667
yeah, i see that. you and i are both members now. i've been here a little over 6 years, you've been here a month. someone has to do it. race you to a thousand.
