Hi Guys: Does a 40 40 need any sort of adapter to bolt to my 5 1/8 Holley? I really want (and found) a pair for my cross ram setup, but want to make sure I go in w/ all the info on them before I pull the trigger. (the opening is for a 5 1/8 carb)
Normally there is an adapter on the bottom of each 40/40 scoop. The three set screws in the scoop, pinch the adapter. The adapter has a cross starp, which is held onto the carb, by the carb center bolt. Between the adapter and the scoop, there is your mesh screen.... Long story short, the pic you posted does not have the adapters and/or screens.
Those adaptors actully are for dropping them down to the 4-1/8th dia carb tops like early afbs and rochestor 4 jets since you dont need the adaptors you can just make your own crossbar to bolt the scoop down
I have a base that you could make two out of with a crossbar you would only have to only make 1 if ya want $40.00 i will post a pic if ya interested Or if you want to raise 1 this would be perfect
