My engine is set at stock 5*btdc currently. I know that too much advance in these engines equals running hot. I have three Stromberg WW's, Mallory Magspark dual points distributor and transformer, and open exhaust. Otherwise, stock rebuilt. How much advance can I get away with? And I know turn it til it knocks then back off, but its so loud right now I'm afraid I can't hear the knock, lol. So what kind of timing are you cad guys running????
Thats how much. Test it under load. Depends on fuel. 87 octane won't take as much advance as 93. It'll take more advance if you're running a bit rich but leaner is meaner. Its not a cut and dry affair.
